It's done!!!

I finished making the Memorial Day Challenge quilt just in time to meet the deadline.  It's packaged up and ready to go in today's mail.

I completed step 6 on Saturday - this was the addition of a third border that was pieced...

Step 6

And the final step (#7) involved adding two more solid borders...

Step 7

And after all that work, here's is the quilt top that I'm mailing to Judy of Patchwork Times.

Judy will work her magic and turn this top into a finished quilt to be delivered to a member of our Armed Forces.  If you're interested in either piecing a quilt yourself or quilting one, check out Quilts of Valor for more information.

This quilt turned out to be 67" x 84" or about a twin size.  I really love the pattern in the center of the quilt and think I'll probably use it again.  But not for a while.  I've got several other projects in the works.  One of which will be finishing organizing my sewing room.  I had to stop in mid stream in order to finish this quilt in time.  Also, our air conditioning quit this evening and the check engine light has just come on in the car.  So I'll need to devote my time to getting these things resolved before anything else.

Before I could dismantle this box for recycling, someone beat me to it...

David in box

He had a lot of fun playing in this box.  I still can't get over how big and long he is...

David stretched out

He looks like he's standing on his head here, but he had just squished himself up...

Love that expression!

Until later...

  1. awesome job on the Memorial day quilt. I have been following Judy's blog for a while so I recognized this pattern. Love her pieced borders.
