"Happy" Medicine...

My cat Sam, the same one who is giving me such fits with her diet, gets special medicine every so often for pain associated with her arthritis.  We call it her "happy" medicine because of the euphoric state it puts her in, but it's known in laymen terms as Tramadol.  Since she's lost a little bit of weight, she hasn't needed it as often - once or twice a week.  But occasionally she wakes up in a fowl mood, irritable and grumpy.  I make sure to give it to her on those days as it greatly improves both our moods.

Today was just such a day.  About 20 minutes after prying her mouth open and putting the pill down her throat - it's the only way to get it in her - she enters a dreamlike state where her eyes dilate, she purrs almost constantly and she has a kitten like energy.  I also thinks she starts to hallucinate.  I managed to get a video of her while under the influence.  I should warn you that she's never this active when not drugged.

I took this video while in my sewing room today.  I also managed to get a few other pictures of her in her "happy" state.

Some days I'd like some "happy" medicine of my own, but in the meantime, it makes me happy to see her so happy.

Until later...
