Finished the cobblestones!

After innumerable hours, I've finally finished quilting the cobblestones on La Maison.

Truth be told, the number is probably somewhere between 10 and 15 hours.  I'd work on them in 43 minute increments.  That happens to be the length of an episode of Stargate SG1.  (Mr. Quilting Bug and I are sci-fi fans.)  I'm currently working my way through all 10 seasons.  I'm on Season 9 and not sure what I'll watch when I'm done with these.  Any recommendations?

I like the texture this quilting adds to the sashing of this quilt.  It shows really well in the solid color fabric.  For the most part, the rest of the quilting I'm planning will be done on prints and won't be as obvious.

I still need to add chimneys, and door knobs, and flowers to the garden.  I'd also like to add some character to many of the houses.  As you can see, they're rather plain right now...

However, if I'm to have any chance of finishing the February Schnibbles quilt, I'm going to have to put this one aside and get busy on it.  The pattern this time is called I.S.T.H. by Carrie Nelson and I'm making a few changes to it.  I'll share some progress photos soon I hope, but I can tell you that I'm doing mine out of Little Gatherings fabric.

On a different note, we sleep with a heated mattress pad on our bed.  (I love that thing!)  Can you tell that Mr. Quilting Bug forgot to turn his side off one day...

Until later...

Making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”

  2. Your work is so neat. I am not that good! We do not have a heated mattress pad, but do have an electric blanket. My two kitties love it when we turn it on!

  3. Too cute, all your babies snoozing on the Mister's side! And your quilting...amazing so far. I can't wait to see what you come up with on the houses. No suggestions from me, I like to listen to audio books while I quilt.
